The 2009 Rendezvous Chapter Challenge will consist of four (4) parts. They are Chapter Attendance, Chapter Baskets, Mouse Trap Car Races and Motorcycle Games.

Chapter Attendance

This section of the Challenge will be based on attendance of each Chapter at Rendezvous. The Chapter with the most members registered for Rendezvous will receive the maximum of 25 points.  The points will be allotted as follows - for second place 20 points, third place 15 points, fourth place will receive 10 points and all other Chapters registered will receive 5 points.

Chapter Games

The motorcycle games will consist of four (4) games the slow race, balloon toss, ball drop and the land maze.  A minimum of 5 bikes will be required for each Chapter.  If a Chapter does not have enough members present they can borrow from another Chapter.  Although a minimum number of bikes was mentioned for the games it is recommended that each Chapter limit their team entry to five (5) bikes as this will speed the games up.  The five bikes chosen to enter the games do not have to be the same for all sections of the games.

Winners of each portion of the games will be assessed points and the determined winner of the game section will be awarded 25 points.  The second place will receive 20 points, third place 15 points, fourth place 10 points and all other teams will receive 5 points.
Proper Riding Gear will be Mandatory

Chapter Baskets

The idea of the Chapter baskets is to raise money for the Region and for our local Charity the Food for Learning Program that is run by the local School Board.  This fund provides needy children in this area with proper nutritious meals at school.  The money raised by the baskets will be split 50/50 with the Region.

Each Chapter is asked to bring a basket full of goodies that is representative of their area which will go along with the Cornucopia Theme in this year’s logo.  The baskets will be raffled off at the rally.  The scoring for the Chapter will be based on how popular their Chapter basket will be, meaning the score will be based on the number of raffle tickets placed in the bowl to win the basket.  The Chapter with the most desirable basket will receive 25 points towards the Challenge with the following points being awarded as follows: 2nd place - 20 points, 3rd place - 15 points, 4th place - 10 points and all other Chapters entering a basket will receive 5 points.

Mouse Trap Car Race

The Mouse Trap Car races will consist of a wooden car propelled by a mouse trap which will be supplied to the Chapters if they do not have one.  The car that goes the farthest will receive 25 points, the 2nd will receive 20 points, the 3rd will receive 15 points and the 4th will receive 10 points and all other Chapters will receive 5 points for entering a car.

Project Rules

1. The car must be powered by a single supplied mouse trap.

2. The mouse trap car cannot be physically altered except for the following: four holes can be drilled only to mount the mousetrap to the frame. (This will allow you to put it higher or lower in the frame& forward or further back in the frame)

3. The device cannot have any additional potential or kinetic energy at the start of the race other than that stored in the mousetrap’s spring itself. This also means that the car cannot be pushed at the start of the race.

4. The car may be painted or decorated. Decorated does not mean that added weight will be allowed as in trinkets or figurines to the car but decals will be allowed.

5. The spring on the mousetrap cannot be altered of modified in any way.

6. Vehicles must be self-starting.

7. The vehicle must self steer itself. Measurements of distance will measure the total distance travelled within the course layout and beyond. If the car clears the end of the track layout without going outside the lines the total distance will be scored.

8. Any car going outside the course layout will be measured at the point where it leaves the course.

9. The car must achieve a minimum of 15 feet inside the track layout or the run will be disqualified.

10. Each car will be allowed three runs. The best distance will be used.
